Easiest and Softest Dinner Rolls for Beginners

Make these super soft and fluffy dinner rolls for your family or next get together and blow them away! So simple and easy and so delicious!

Ingredients

  • 3 Cup Flour
  • 1/4 Cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 pkg Instant Yeast
  • 1/4 Cup Oil
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Cup Warm Water Varies

Instructions

  1. Add flour, sugar, salt, and yeast to a large bowl and mix.

  2. Add oil and egg and mix well (leave out the egg if making this vegan).

  3. Slowly add warm water, mixing with your hands or another preferred utensil until soft sticky dough comes together into a ball.

  4. Knead for about 5 minutes or until dough becomes soft and elastic.

  5. Place in oiled bowl and cover. Let sit in a warm place until doubled in size. This usually takes about one hour depending on the temperature of your kitchen.

  6. Uncover and deflate the dough.

  7. Grease baking dish.

  8. Separate dough and form into balls of your desired size (I did nine this time). Cover dough balls and let double in size again. Usually takes about 30-45 minutes.

  9. When almost doubled, preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

  10. Brush tops of rolls with melted butter (I use vegan butter/margarine instead of real butter) right before putting into the oven on center rack.

  11. Cook at 400F for 15 minutes. Turn oven temperature down to 325F and bake another 5 minutes. If getting too brown on top, cover them loosely with a piece of foil.

  12. Take out of the oven and immediately brush with more melted butter or margarine. Cover with a clean cloth and let cool for at least 30 minutes.

  13. Then go tear one of those rolls off and chow down. Enjoy!
